Aera Systems — Sustainable Habitats Designed for Our Future

Justin Koziol created Aera Systems as an answer to a question Nashville is already asking: how do you grow quickly without compromising what gets built?

Justin brought his background in architecture, commerical real estate development and sustainable living to found Aera Systems, a company focused on using innovative-construction techniques and carbon neutral materials to build high-performance, long-lasting, eco-healthy homes, with installations completed in 30 days or less.

“Our whole goal is to build better housing but also to be able to roll it out a lot quicker,” Justin said.

That speed matters in a city thinking intentionally about its next chapter. Nashville is growing, but the question is not growth alone. It is whether the city can support new models that are more sustainable, more efficient and more responsive to the people who will live here.

“Nashville is a city that is trying to be very intentional about the way it grows,” Justin said.

For Aera Systems, Nashville offers both the urgency and the opportunity. The city’s pro-growth culture aligns with the company’s mission, while its location gives Aera Systems a strong base to serve the Southeast and Eastern Seaboard.

“There’s a general sense of like, let’s all try and help each other out and grow together,” he said.

Justin has built partnerships with local home builders, developers and companies across the country for materials, consulting and design. He has also engaged with the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, Torch Collective, and InvestTN, finding a community willing to help new ideas grow.

The larger vision is to prove that sustainable housing does not have to be slow, expensive or out of reach.

“I think proving to the market that that’s possible, that’s really like our big vision and goal,” Justin said.
