Third Person — Building Trust in the Supply Chain
Growing an e-commerce business takes more than a great product. Third Person is building an AI-powered platform that helps brands find the right logistics partners, making supply chains smarter and growth more attainable.

When Matt Hertz talks about building a business in Nashville, he remembers a city that felt like it was being built alongside him.
After starting his career in finance in New York and working around high-growth companies like Rent the Runway and Birchbox, Matt had seen what early-stage energy looked like up close. When he came to Nashville, he recognized something similar, but on a citywide scale.
“Nashville kind of felt like a startup,” he said. “The whole city was a startup.”
That sense of momentum helped shape the company he is building now. Third Person is an AI-powered platform that helps e-commerce brands find logistics providers that match their specific needs. For growing brands, choosing the right 3PL can shape everything from customer experience to margins to scale.

His larger vision is to build “the NerdWallet for supply chain,” a trusted resource that helps brands navigate one of the most complex parts of growing an e-commerce business.
But for Matt, the story is also about the kind of place where a company like Third Person can grow. Nashville’s startup community is not just connected. It is generous. Through the Nashville Entrepreneur Center and the broader business ecosystem, he found founders, operators and community leaders who were willing to open doors, share perspectives and invest in one another’s success.
“The Nashville business community, the startup ecosystem, we care about each other,” Matt said. “We’re all genuinely rooting for each other’s success.”
