Whisper Aero — Transforming the Future of Flight

Built in Middle Tennessee, the company is combining aerospace engineering, advanced propulsion, and electric innovation to create quieter, more efficient systems that open new possibilities for how people and goods move through the world.

For decades, aerospace engineers focused on making aircraft fly farther, faster, and more efficiently. Whisper Aero started with a different challenge: making them quieter.

"Whisper Aero started from the thesis that in order to achieve scale for air mobility, you need to be really, really quiet," Product Manager Laura Morejón Ramírez said. "So we set out to develop technology that makes propulsion, which is usually the noisiest part of airplanes, as quiet as humanly possible."

Rather than treating acoustics as an afterthought, Whisper Aero made it the foundation of its engineering approach.

"We set out to bring acoustics into the very beginning and turn it into our primary objective, not just an afterthought," co-founder and COO Ian Villa said.

That technology extends far beyond aviation. From aircraft propulsion to home ventilation systems and outdoor equipment like the Tone Outdoors T1 leaf blower, Whisper Aero is proving that quieter technology can improve everyday life.

"There’s air moving in lots of phases of our lives," Laura said. "I believe people’s lives will be quieter in the places that matter most because of Whisper Aero."

As the company continues to grow, Nashville has played an important role.

"Innovation happens at these intersections of disparate disciplines," Ian said. "When you're in a place like Nashville, Music City, where you have creatives, design talent, and deeply technical people, you get these happy coincidences that ultimately turn into what innovation needs to be."

That intersection of engineering, acoustics, and creativity is helping redefine what's possible, not just for aviation, but for how people experience the world around them.
